Speaking at an event last Friday in Accra to unveil the new brand ambassador, the Managing Director (MD) of Vlisco Ghana Group, Fatoumata Doro, who expressed excitement about the choice of the new ambassador, commended the past ambassadors for their contribution towards the brand, adding that Lucy Quist will equally do a great job and project the company to empower more women.
“This year’s Vlisco Brand Ambassador is yet again an outstanding woman who has distinguished herself in the field of STEM, recognised on several platforms as a role model both locally and internationally. As the author of the Bold New Normal, a book challenging the mindset of the youth in nation building and creativity, Lucy is certainly the right fit for what the Vlisco brand stands for- Respect, Empower, Engage, Inspire.”
Appreciation
Describing the Vlisco as a timeless brand that represents aspirations, dreams and hope for the future, Mrs Quist said she was excited she will be working to impact a lot of women during her time as an ambassador for the company.
She said, “it is exciting to be recognised for the work we do and what we stand for as women. I look forward to shaping the future of this nation with my experience under the umbrella of the Vlisco brand.”
“For me, this is to reach out to women across the country to provide mentorship to women both young and old whether they are studying, whether they are business women, and very importantly to the women who work for the company. I know that through this opportunity I will also have the chance to learn from these women and collectively we will move ourselves forward. I have to add that this is a very important time for us as a country. This is the time for the bold new normal,” she said.
Roles
During her one-year reign as brand ambassador, she will collaborate with Vlisco in providing mentorship to selected women including employees, while using her influence to create awareness of a passionate cause of her choice with a donation of Euros 5,000 from Vlisco Ghana.
Also, she will be representing the brand at key events, support promotional campaigns in connection with the brand values and collaborate on various online campaigns geared towards brand building and women empowerment, as well as advise the company on its diversity strategy to achieve 40 per cent women ratio by 2025.
